We still have a few weeks to wait until Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice hits the big screen but it is already one of the most talked about and anticipated films of 2016. It is one of the films that I really cannot wait to see.
Dawn of Justice comes three years after Superman was reintroduced in Man of Steel and will see Henry Cavill reprise the role of Clark Kent... this time around, Superman is going to come face to face with Batman.
We haven't seen Batman on the big screen since The Dark Knight Rises and Dawn of Justice will see Ben Affleck take over the role of Bruce Wayne for the very first time. There may have been a whole host of controversy when Affleck was cast, but I think he is going to be terrific in the role.
Affleck is the not the actor who would have jumped to mind when casting this role, but I am looking forward to seeing him explore an older and war weary Batman/Bruce Wayne. I can't wait to see him team up with Cavill.
Dawn of Justice will also see Zack Snyder back in the director's chair for his first film since the success of Man of Steel. Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer are also on board as they have teamed up to pen the screenplay.
Affleck is not the only new face to watch out for this time around, as we are also going to be introduced to Gal Gadot, Jesse Eisenberg, Jason Momoa, and Jeremy Irons as Wonder Woman, Lex Luthor, Aquaman, and Alfred.
But there are plenty of familiar names returning as Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, and Michael Shannon are set to return as Lois Lane, Martha Kent, Perry White, and General Zod. There are also rumours that we may get our first glimpse of Ezra Miller as Barry Allen aka The Flash.
Fearing the actions of a god-like super hero left unchecked, Gotham City's own formidable, forceful vigilante takes on Metropolis's most revered, modern-day saviour, while the world wrestles with what sort of hero it really needs.
2016 is going to be a bumper year for comic book movies and Warner Bros are taking a major step forward in developing the DC World - Suicide Squad will follow in the summer and filming is under way on the stand alone Wonder Woman.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice could be one of the 2016 films that grosses over $1 billion at the box office and it will be interesting to see how the film performs compared to Captain America: Civil War, which will hit cinema screens a month later. Which film is going to come out on top? Are you Team DC or Team Marvel?
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is released 25th March 2016.
