We can barely contain our excitement as we watch the brand new teaser trailer for the fifth series of Black Mirror again and again. Coming to Netflix next month, we see some of the cast in action including Anthony Mackie (Avengers), Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Yahya Abdul-Mateen II (Aquaman), Andrew Scott (Sherlock), Topher Grace (BlacKkKlansman) and Nicole Beharie (Sleepy Hollow), and we've managed to glean a few intriguing nuggets of info from the montage of clips.

1. The episodes

We know that we can look forward to three episodes in all, which, yeah, feels a little underdone given how we got six episodes for season 4 back in 2017. But it has been a year and a half and we did, after all, get the feature-length Bandersnatch to enjoy just after Christmas last year. We're trying not to be greedy.

2. The date

That's the good news. Series 5 is set to air on June 5th which is just three weeks away! We don't know about you, but it's going to be the longest three-week wait of our lives. But certainly gives us time to rewatch all four previous series.

3. It's dealing with society's addiction to phones

Perhaps one of the most unambiguous aspects in the trailer, we see mobile phones driving Andrew Scott crazy to the point where he's in a car with a gun and a hostage surrounded by police officers. He's one of the greatest Irish actors who ever lived, so we are so looking forward to his episode.

4. There's an Alexa-like robot

If you know anything about Black Mirror you know that it rarely shines a positive light on technological advancements. In one episode we'll be introduced to what appears to be a talking virtual assistane much like Amazon's Alexa. She seems to be a friend for one person who has none, but has far too many opinions than what an IE robot should have,

5. Technology is wild

Not only is there obviously more brain chips the likes of which we've seen in myriad Black Mirror episodes including The Entire History of You, White Christmas and Arkangel, but we also see that virtual reality is a big theme in the forthcoming series. We see one character wearing a bodysuit with VR goggles, as well as two people fighting in a video game simulation.

6. It explores fame

Miley Cyrus appears to be playing a fictionalised version of herself; that is, a world-renowned popstar; in one episode. We can only assume that there are dark undertones to this exploration, and we are sort of left wondering if the fact that her purple wig matches that of the virtual assistant is significant.
