Dad's Army

Dad's Army

Dad's Army is set to hit the big screen next year and is based on the much-loved and still hugely popular iconic British comedy - all of our favourite characters are back with some new actors taking on those roles.

We have all watched Dad's Army at some point over the years and I cannot wait to see these great characters brought to film for the first time and to a brand new audience.

Toby Jones, Bill Nighy, Tom Courtenay, Michael Gambon, Daniel Mays, Bill Paterson, and Blake Harrison are on board as Captain Mainwaring, Sergeant Wilson, Lance Corporal Jones, Private Godfrey, Private Mays, Private Frazer, and Private Pike.

The first trailer for the film has been released and you can see all of these terrific British actors in action:

Catherine Zeta-Jones, Sarah Lancashire, Mark Gatiss, Alison Steadman, Annette Crosbie, and Ian Lavender make up a wonderful cast list - it really is one of the best ensemble casts of early 2016.

Dad's Army also marks the return of Oliver Parker to the director's chair in what will be his first film since Johnny English Reborn back in 2011.

It is 1944 and World War II is reaching its climax. The Allies are poised to invade France and finally defeat the German army. But in Walmington-on-Sea morale amongst the Home Guard is low.

Their new mission then - to patrol the Dover army base - is a great chance to revive spirits and reputation, that is until glamorous journalist Rose Winters arrives to write about their exploits, setting the pulses racing and putting the local women on red alert.

MI5 then discover a radio signal sent direct to Berlin from Walmington-on-Sea. There's a spy on the loose! The outcome of the war is suddenly at stake, and it falls to our unlikely heroes to stand up and be counted.

2016 looks set to be another great year for British film and Dad's Army really is one of the early films in this genre that is not to be missed.

Dad's Army is released 5th February 2016.
