Iron Man 3

2013 is going to be super exciting movie year with some huge projects on the horizon.

But with great movies comes series of fascinating characters as well as a string of heroes who are ready to save the day.

So to celebrate the year of cinema that lies ahead of us we take a look at some of the heroes who will be swooping into action.

- Iron Man/Tony Stark

The first must see superhero blockbuster comes in the form of Iron Man 3 as Robert Downey Jr returns to the title role.

It was back in 2010 when we last saw a stand alone Iron Man movie but the character played a huge part in last summer's Avengers Assemble.

And the third instalment will see Tony Stark struggling with the aftermath of the battle in New York before he sees his world torn apart.

Robert Downey Jr is the perfect actor for this role and this time around we are going to see Stark at him most vulnerable - this is a movie about the man rather than the suit.

Iron Man 3 is released 26th April.

It was 2006 when we last saw the caped crusader on the big screen but Henry Cavill takes over the title role as Zack Snyder is in the director's chair.

Man of Steel follows Clark Kent as he discovers his powers and decides what kind of man he wants to be.

But he is called into action as he must save the earth from an evil that threatens to destroy anything.

The Wolverine is set after the events of X-Men: Last Stand and we see the title character at his most vulnerable after the loss of Jean Grey.

The movie is based on the popular Japanese arc and will see Wolverine coming face to face with an enemy from his past.

The Wolverine is a movie that makes this character look at him immortality and appreciate the gift that he has been given. This promises to be the best Wolverine movie yet.

Elysium is one of the movie that is absolutely not to be missed as Neill Blomkamp returns to the director's chair for the first time since the success of District 9.

The movie sees him team up with Matt Damon, who plays a man on a mission for equality.

Elysium is set in the year 2159, where the very wealthy live on a man-made space station while the rest of the population resides on a ruined Earth that is rife with poverty and crime.

This is another great action role for Damon as he is set to play the everyman hero alongside Jodie Foster and William Fichtner.
