Al Pacino

Al Pacino and Katie Holmes' new movie sparked outrage on the streets of New York on Friday (09Apr10) - local Muslims gathered to protest the use of a prop which referred to Islamic holy book, The Koran.

Pacino was filming scenes for Son Of No One with his co-stars Ray Liotta and Channing Tatum in Queens, when worshippers from a nearby mosque came together to complain about a sign mentioning the religious text, which had been posted in public view.

Movie bosses reportedly co-operated by removing the item from the site, according to the New York Post's gossip column Page Six.

A source tells the publication, "Pacino, Ray Liotta and Channing Tatum were all on set.

"There was a small protest from people from the mosque across the street about the sign, but the crew were respectful and agreed to take it down."

Directed by Dito Monitel the movie follows a young cop who  is assigned to a precinct in the working class neighbourhood where he grew up, and an old secret threatens to destroy his life and his family.

The movie continues a busy year for Pacino who is currently juggling movie and more TV work. You Don't Know Jack is his latest TV project as well as a couple of movies in the pipeline.

He will take on King Lear as well as star as Herod in Mary Mother of Christ, both of which are expected to hit the big screen next year.
