Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried

Amanda Seyfried has admitted that she would love to return to comedy.

The actress burst onto the scene with the role of Karen in Mean Girls and the actress wants to return to that genre after a series of romance movies.

I'd like to do a full on comedy.

Speaking to the Press Association the actress said: "I'd like to do a full on comedy. I mean I did a long time ago, but it wasn't really a super-heavy role. So I'd like to do that again.

"That would be a challenge. I do feel like I need to prove to myself that I can do it."

But it was 2008 and musical Mamma Mia! where Seyfried really made her mark - going on to become one of the most in demand young actresses in Hollywood.

But the actress doesn't mind all the work that she has been doing and is still enjoying her job.

"I feel like I still lead a pretty normal existence otherwise. It's extraordinary to be on film sets, and working that many hours and having as much fun as I do, and travelling, but I get enough time off.

"Even though I feel like I haven't really stopped working since we started shooting Red Riding Hood.

"And it came out so quickly and I went straight into another film and I just finished that. And now it's out and I feel like I've had a lot of time off.

"I mean, I haven't, but I guess I make it count when I do have a few hours to myself."

She is back on the big screen this week with new movie Red Riding Hood, which is Catherine Hardwicke's new take on an old story.

Red Riding Hood is out now.
