Ang Lee

Ang Lee says the most difficult part of making Life Of Pi was being able to touch the audience with the story.

The Oscar winning filmmaker is back in the director's chair with a big screen adaptation of Yann Martel's visual novel of the same name.

And while Life of Pi does have an art house film feel to it Lee wanted to make it more than that.

Speaking at a press conference Lee said: "As an art house film, you can explore the philosophical issues.

"But for a popular film, we also need to make the audience feel touched, and that was the difficult part."

Life of Pi is the first time that Lee has helmed a movie since Taking Woodstock back in 2009 and this is his most adventurous project to date.

Irrfan Khan, Rafe Spall and Suraj Sharma are just some of the names on the cast list and Life of Pi promises to be one of the movies not to miss this Christmas.

Life of Pi is released 20th December.
