James Cameron is wasting no time in returning to the world of Pandora with a 'rough story' for Avatar 2 already on his mind.

Avatar has become the fastest movie to break the $1 billion barrier and has become the biggest grossing movie of all time toppling Titanic.

But with it's strangle hold on the box office this movie looks like it could set more records so a sequel seemed inevitable.

Cameron told E! at the Screen Actors Guild Awards:"We always planned on continuing the world and continuing the characters. In fact, that was part of the original pitch to 20th Century Fox.

"It's not like it's a practical set that when you build it, you have to tear it down and you're left with a big pile of lumber out behind the studio. We have all that stuff so we can go again."

"I have a rough story, but you need to make a script, so that might take some time. Don't start going to buy your tickets."

And more success could come the way of Avatar over the next few weeks with the Oscars just on the horizon.

The movie picked up the Best Picture Drama Golden Globe last weekend and a string of nominations for Academy Awards, which are announced 1st February, are a certainty.
