Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson and Tim Burton and Helena Bonham Carter were among the stars invited to Queen Elizabeth II's party for U.S. President Barack Obama on Tuesday night (24May11).

The famous faces, along with actor Kevin Spacey and businessman Sir Richard Branson, headed to a dinner at the British monarch's London residence to celebrate the American leader's visit to the U.K.

The guests at Buckingham Palace dined on a starter of crayfish with bechamel sauce, a main course of seasoned lamb and a dessert of vanilla charlotte and morello cherries, while Bonham Carter found herself sitting beside London mayor Boris Johnson during the meal.

Queen Elizabeth II also made a speech about recognising the importance of the links between the American and British film industries in honor of Obama's visit.

She told her guests, "Over the years, we have enjoyed some of America’s most spectacular musical productions and any number of what we call films, which you might prefer to call movies.

"In return, British films and theatrical productions have achieved considerable success in your country.

"This exchange of people and projects has enlarged and invigorated our common language, although I think you will agree, we don't always use it in quite the same way."

Spacey clearly had fun at the bash - in a post on his Twitter.com page after the event, he writes, "Dinner tonight was at Buckingham Palace with the U.S. President."
