Bryan Singer

Bryan Singer has would have cast Nicholas Hoult as Superman if he'd have returned to the franchise he has revealed.

Singer directed the 2006 movie, which starred Brandon Routh, as the Man of Steel but it will be Zack Synder behind the camera for the new reboot of the franchise.

And Snyder has cast British actor Henry Cavill as Clark Kent bit Singer admits that he would have gone for a younger actor.

Speaking to Total Film he director said: "If I'm really honest, what I probably would have done is go back and retell the origin story with someone like Nicholas Hoult [playing Clark Kent/Superman].

"I would have done it differently from Richard Donner's original, which I love, but instead of doing a sequel I'd have started from the beginning - maybe I had that in the back of my mind and instead translated it to X-Men: First Class!"

Singer has worked alongside Hoult on X-Men: First Class; Singer is producer on the film while Hoult takes on the role of Hank McCoy aka Beast.

X-Men: First Class will be the first time that we have seen Hoult on the big screen since Clash of the Titans in March last year.

He is currently working on Jack and the Giant Killer and will be appearing in Mad Max: Fury Road.
