Catherine Hardwicke has hinted that there might be an anime version of the recent Twilight movie.

Whilst working in on the audio commentary with lead actor Robert Pattinson the filmmaker, who has now left the franchise, made the comment.

Towards the end of the film Pattinson said: "I look Asian in this scene. I do, I look like an anime character."

To which Hardwicke answered: "Hey, I think there's going to be an anime version of this in Japan. So you will be an anime character."

After the success of the first movie late last year New Moon was given the green light to go ahead however Hardwicke announced that she was leaving the succesful franchise behind.

It's believed that the filmmaker was troubled by the late 2009 early 2010 scheduled release date set by Summit Entertainment and felt that she needed more time to work on the project.

Chris Weitz has since been named as her replacement.

However Hardwicke is now in talks to direct Maximum Ride, another fantasy book series.
