Chris Evans has revealed that he was nervous about taking on the role of Captain America.

Evans returns to the Marvel Comic movie, after starring in two Fantastic Four movies, as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the Joe Johnston directed movie.

The actor was in San Diego this weekend to promote the movie at Comic Con but the actor has admitted that he did have some reservations about taking on the project.

Talking to MTV he said: "No, it wasn't an easy yes. I get nervous. I get nervous in things like this (interviews and public appearances). Captain America means a lot of this," he explained.

"[Playing] Captain America just changes things, and there's really no off switch once you walk down that road."

And despite his reservations Evans reveals that this hasn't stopped him from enjoying making the movie.

"There's nothing wrong with the project. I love the people involved, the character, the script, Hugo [Weaving]. There was nothing wrong there, it was just about the lifestyle change and whether or not I was willing to do it," he said.

"There's no turning back now. I'm just trying to make all the negatives positives and just enjoy the ride."

Captain America is released 22nd July 2011.
