Clint Eastwood believes that Matt Damon is going to be a great director.
The pair reunite for new movie Hereafter, which also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, after working together on Invictus earlier this year.
And Eastwood says that Damon understands actors and predicts a good future behind the camera for the Oscar winner.
Speaking to Men's Journal the filmmaker said: "You get a feeling about somebody that they're the kind of person who just likes to stand and deliver. And he is.
"He knows - he instinctively knows [how to be a good director]. When he directs he's going to be great at it because he understands actors."
While Damon has openly admitted that he would like to turn his hand to directing but he currently has nothing in the pipeline, although he has been linked to helming a Ben & Casey Affleck written script.
Eastwood is back behind the camera for Hereafter and has Hoover, a biopic about FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, in the pipeline.
