Clint Eastwood

Clint Eastwood has quit acting insisting he'll only come out of retirement if a script comes along that he can't turn down.

The movie great has announced last year's (08) Gran Torino was his final film as a leading man - and he wants to spend the rest of his days behind the camera.

Appearing on golfing pal George Lopez's chat show on Tuesday night (08Dec09), the Dirty Harry star revealed, "I'm done...

“You never know where a good story comes from but I'm a senior here (and) you get to a certain stage and you think, 'Why not just stand behind the camera?'

“Nobody's fooling with you, nobody's wanting to put make-up, do you collar, all that kind of stuff."

It was widely believed that Gran Torino was going to be Eastwood’s last time in front of the camera earlier this year.

He also directed the critically acclaimed movie and was shockingly overlooked at this year’s Oscars for his work.

However he is back in the director’s chair in the new year with his latest movie Invictus, which follows the story of Nelson Mandela as he tries to unite South Africa through sport, starring Morgan Freeman and Matt Damon.

The movie is already surrounded in Oscar talk and it expected to grab a string on nods when the nominations are announced.
