Courteney Cox

Courteney Cox is set to follow in the footsteps of her former Friends co-star Jennifer Aniston by receiving a top honour from the Women in Film Foundation.

The organisation will present Cox with the prestigious Lucy Award at the Crystal + Lucy event this summer (10), a year after her best pal was honoured at the ceremony, which recognises women making a mark in the entertainment industry.

Avatar star Zoe Saldana has been previously announced as the recipient of the MaxMara Face Of The Future Award, while Universal Pictures' co-chairwoman Donna Langley and photography director Cynthia Pusheck will also receive trophies.

The ceremony will take place in June (10) in Los Angeles.

Cox already had a string of movie and TV roles under her belt by the time Friends came along in 1994.

But it would be the role of Monica Gellar in the hit sit com that would make her a household name.

She stayed with the show for it's ten year run, ending in 2004, appearing in 236 episodes.

Since then she has enjoyed success with shows such as Dirt and current series Cougar Town.

She is set to reprise her role as Gale Weathers in a fourth Scream movie which is due out next year.
