Dakota Fanning has admitted that she felt intimidated when singing for her new role in The Runaways.

The teenage actress takes on the role of singer Cherie Currie in the biopic picture that charts the rise of female rock band The Runaways.

Speaking to Contactmusic she said: "I think playing a real person that was going to be there.

"Also, singing, for me, which was very intimidating. I didn't really know exactly who the Runaways were, so just learning about them and watching the 'Live in Japan' of 'Cherry Bomb' and realising I had to do that was a little scary.

"But that's kind of what drew me to it and excited me."

The movie sees her reunite with her New Moon co-star Kristen Stewart, who takes on the role of Joan Jett.

She returns to the big screen this summer when she reprises the role of Jane in Eclipse, the third book in the Twilight series to be adapted for the big screen.
