David Tennant is all set to return to the big screen as he has landed a role in the new St Trinian's movie.

Tennant will play villain Pomfrey in the second movie in the rebooted St Trinian's film franchise The Legend of Fritton's Gold.

The Doctor Who star will join Colin Firth and Rupert Everett, who both starred in the 2007 movie, with Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding also rumoured to be joining the cast list.

The 2007 movie, starring Gemma Arterton and Russell Brand, was a massive box office success in the UK back in 2007 grossing over £12 million in this country alone.

It's a long awaited return to the big screen for Tennant who was last seen in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire as Barty Crouch Jr back in 2005.

Although he did lend his vocals to Free Jimmy in 2006. But the actor has been busy with the success of BBC show Doctor Who as the eleventh Doctor.

He steps down from the role at the end of the year and will be replaced by Matt Smith.
