Emilia Fox has no plans to return to theatre work after receiving scathing reviews for her 2003 turn on the London stage.
The Pianist star admits the critical mauling of her performance in Les Liaisons Dangereuses quashed her desire to tread the boards again.
She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "I guess everyone has to have one of those experiences in their careers."
The actress met her now ex-husband Jared Harris during the production, and she reveals they learned to laugh at their critics.
Fox adds, "Jared and I turned all the reviews into fish-and-chip paper at our wedding and, in retrospect, the ferocity of them was quite funny. But at the time you think: 'Oh my God!'
"That's why you should never read reviews. It didn't put me off acting but it did put me off theatre, and I haven't done any since."
