Emily Blunt

Emily Blunt has revealed that she turned down a role in Captain America because she didn't want to commit to a franchise.

The British actress was linked to the role of Peggy Carter, Captain America's love interest in the movie but turned down the part.

The role has gone to another British actress Hayley Atwell.

Speaking to MTV she said: "I'm a big supporter of (director) Joe Johnston and I think that Captain America is going to be really fun and I gather that the story is really interesting. It just wasn't what I wanted to do next, to be honest.

"There's definitely a high commitment level and I'm not someone who likes to plan too much ahead. That would also be an issue for me as well."

And Captain America is the second comic book movie she has been linked with after landing the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2.

But due to a filming clash she had to give up the role, which went to Scarlett Johansson. But she believes that she will get her comic book movie chance.

"I don't tend to be fatalistic about these things. I think for me the job always has to be the right thing at the right time. Neither of them happened to be that."
