She may not have won the Oscar® but film fans have crowned The King’s Speech actress Helena Bonham Carter as the most powerful actress in Hollywood in a poll conducted as part of Sky Movies Showcase HD’s week-long Women In Film Season (7th - 13th March) in association with Stylist magazine.
In a show of patriotism, over 450 British film fans gave Bonham Carter the lead with 10.8%, beating Black Swan’s Natalie Portman to the top spot in the poll, with Dame Helen Mirren claiming third place in the list (8.3% & 8.1% respectively).
Oscar® winners Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts followed in fourth and fifth (6.4% and 5.8%) with rom-com queen Jennifer Aniston edging ahead of Hollywood icon Meryl Streep in sixth place (4.8%) to Streep’s seventh position (4.5%).
The top ten list is completed by Cameron Diaz (4.3%), Drew Barrymore (3.9%) and recent Oscar® host Anne Hathaway (3.5%).
Running until 13th March, Sky Movies Showcase HD’s Women In Film Season is celebrating films by some of the movie industry’s best female directors and leading ladies, including Thelma & Louise, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, It's Complicated, Erin Brockovich and Cleopatra amongst many others.
