Gabourey Sidibe may have just received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance in Precious but the actress was more excited by the fact that it was Justin Timberlake that announced her name.

The twenty six year old admitted to being a huge fan of the singer and was thrilled that he announced the nominees in the Best Actress in a Drama category.

She told People: "Oh my God, Justin Timberlake just said my name. I'm so very excited to come into this because I'm usually on the other side.

“I'm a fangirl and I watch these things happen, but they don't happen to me!"

"I called my mum right away when I found out and she was really excited. She said that six people have called her already to congratulate her.

“My dad's not really into this whole thing. He doesn't really understand what all this is, it's not his realm at all, but I'm going to tell him when I see him later today."

Sidibe takes on the role of Precious in an adaptation of the novel by Sapphire, a movie which has gained huge support on the festival circuit.

Set in Harlem Precious is an overweight, illiterate teen who is pregnant with her second child is invited to enrol in an alternative school in hopes that her life can head in a new direction.

However best Actress in a Drama is a tough category and she faces competition from Emily Blunt, Sandra Bullock, Helen Mirren and awards favourite so far this season Carey Mulligan.
