Helena Bonham Carter has revealed that her Screen Actors Guild nomination means more than her Golden Globe nod.

The award nominations have been pouring in for the British actress for her performance as Queen Elizabeth in The King’s Speech.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter the actress said: "The SAG nomination means particularly more to me because it comes from the very people I crave approval from: other actors.

"These awards make a big difference to the small independent films and gets them an audience that normally wouldn't see them."

The movie, which is directed by Tom Hooper and stars Colin Firth, is gaining huge awards attention and is the favourite to scoop Best Picture at the Oscars next year.

2010 has been a huge success for Carter as Alice in Wonderland broke $1 billion at the global box office and she can currently be seen in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1.

The King’s Speech is released 7th January.
