Henry Cavill has revealed that he was excited by his Superman casting - despite trying to play it cool on the phone to director Zack Snyder.
The Brit actor will help reboot the franchise as he takes over the role of Clark Kent from Brandon Routh.
Snyder will direct the project while Christopher Nolan is also aboard to serve as producer on the movie.
Speaking to Collider the actor said: "My smile was absolutely enormous. I was trying very, very hard to play it cool on the phone with Zack Snyder when he called me."
"As soon as I hung up, I was leaping up and down and running up and down the stairs and roaring and shouting, and then trying to call everyone.
"No-one picked up their phones believe it or not! Apart from my assistant. I eventually got through. I was trying to tell the news to everyone and no-one was answering their phones!"
Filming is already underway on the movie while Russell Crowe, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams and Michael Shannon are all on the cast list.
However we are set for a length wait to see the movie as it will not hit cinema screens until summer 2013.
