Asa Butterfield & Chloe Moretz

Ahead of the release of legendary film director Martin Scorsese’s new film Hugo, the movies two young lead actors Chloe Moretz and Asa Butterfield have been chatting to education charity about what it was like to work with the award-winning filmmaker.

Chloe, whose previous credits include Kick-Ass and Let Me In (US version), told the charity about working with the director; "It was amazing working with Scorsese.

"As a young actor to work with Scorsese at the age of 13, 14, it was just a dream.  He’s a legend and to work with him at all in my career let alone at a young age it was beautiful."

Hugo - which follows the story of an orphan boy who lives within the walls of a bustling train station in 1930’s Paris whose lonely life is given a purpose by constructing a mysterious unfinished robot left to him by his father - includes a key character in the form of the real life pioneering filmmaker Georges Melies whose iconic science film A Trip To The Moon in 1902 has inspired filmmakers ever since.

Asa Butterfield (The Boy In the Striped Pyjamas) who plays the title role of Hugo, told the charity - which promotes learning through films from past and present in school film clubs - why he believed it was important for young people to watch classic films; "You can learn a lot about the past depending on the era of when the film is set.

"Rather than just text or pictures you see the actions it’s a living history.  And you see the truthful representation of life in certain times so it’s really important and it’s an education watching old films."

Hugo is released 2nd December
