Ian McShane has revealed that listening to Bob Dylan music helped him get in character.
The actor is back on the big screen this week as he stars alongside Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
The actor takes on the role of Blackbeard in the fourth instalment of the Pirates franchise - which is directed by Rob Marshall.
Speaking to the Belfast Telegraph the actor said: "Every morning before we stuck on this incredible beard, which used to take about two and a half hours, I used to play a lot of music especially Bob Dylan's song Boots Of Spanish Leather, that old pirate song I think.
"The way of acting any character I think is you plant your feet, look the other character in the eye and try not to trip over your sword."
On Stranger Tides is the first movie for McShane since 44 Inch Chest - however he did star in The Pillars of the Earth mini series last year.
Geoffrey Rush also returns to the franchise as Barbossa while Penelope Cruz is another new face on the cast list.
Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is released 18th May.
