It looks like Iron Man 3 will work as a sequel to Captain America, Thor and The Avengers.

Jon Favreau has been doing press junkets here and there for his new film Cowboys and Aliens, along the way he spoke to MTV about the state of Iron Man 3 and where it may be heading.

He said: "In theory, Iron Man 3 is going to be a sequel or continuation of Thor, Hulk, Captain America and Avengers," he said. "This whole world... I have no idea what it is. I don't think they do either, from conversations I've had with those guys."

Not only that, but Perez Hilton has reported a rumour that the main villain may be The Mandarin. A villain who uses 10 rings which grant various powers, along with being a scientific genius and having superhuman martial arts skills. He's also hell-bent on world domination, obviously.

There's still plenty of time to go before anything is announced officially, all will be revealed before the film is released on May 13, 2013.
