Jeremy Renner has revealed that he has no idea if the character of Hawkeye will return in any other Marvel movies.

The actor took on the role earlier this summer in the billion dollar success avengers Assemble - which has gone on to be the fourth biggest third biggest grossing movie of all time.

And the actor reveals that he has no ideas of the plans for the character in the future and the decision to return will not be up to him.

Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "It's a great character," Renner told MTV News. "There's a lot to explore there for me personally but I have no idea where they'll go with it."

"That's another sort of, [there are] puppeteers, they have their own ideas. I have no idea what's going on, people are probably more informed than I am of the reality of me being in another movie."

And Renner will be back on the big screen next month as he takes on the role of Aaron Cross in The Bourne Legacy.

It is the fourth movie in the Bourne franchise and will be the first without Matt Damon in the lead role.

Tony Gilroy is in the director's chair for the movie and he has also penned the screenplay for the film.

The Bourne Legacy is released 13th August.
