Josh Hutcherson has revealed that he admired Peeta's desire to remain true to himself in The Hunger Games.

The actor takes on the role alongside Jennifer Lawrence and Liam Hemsworth in the big screen adaptation of the popular novel.

And Hutcherson shares that belief of never losing sight of who you are and so really connected with his character.

In an interview with Parade the actor said: "Peeta is all about staying true to yourself.

"He goes into the Games and does everything he can to maintain what he believes in and not become just another pawn.

"Growing up in the acting world, you have a lot of opportunities to change who you are and what you believe in based on how people treat you.

"I never wanted to do that. And that's what Peeta's driving toward through the series."

Hutcherson has already enjoyed big box office success in 2012 with Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, in which he reprised the role of Sean, and that success looks set to continue with The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games is released 23rd March
