Laurence Fishburne

Laurence Fishburne has described his Predators character as the movie's 'badass'

The actor joins Robert Rodriguez's new vision for the sci-fi franchise alongside Adrien Brody, Topher Grace and Danny Trejo as Noland.

Speaking to Metro the actor said: "I play the badass, I have a big gun and I know how to use it. I liked the first Predator a lot. It's a really smart movie and they’ve gone back to that formula.

"They've returned to a similar jungle environment and upped the ante by making everyone mercenaries and not so much a cohesive unit, and they've added one more predator to the mix."

"Noland is a kind of gamekeeper of the planet that everybody has been dropped on to. I got to go off-script and improvise. It was fun."

Predators is the first time on the big screen for Fishburne since Armored last year as he splits his time between movies and hit TV show CSI: Crime Scene Investigation as Dr. Raymond Langston.

As well as returning to CSI Fishburne also had movies Contagion, which also stars Matt Damon and Jude Law, and 4Chosen will Billy Zane in the pipeline.

Predators is out now.
