A secret screening of Les Miserables has been met with a standing ovation.

An audience in New York were treated to the first screening of Tom Hooper's big screen adaptation of the popular musical and it seems to have increased the buzz around this movie even more.

The audience reaction was reported by THR and it all of the musical numbers were met with applause before the cast were met with a standing ovation when they appeared at the end of the movie.

Les Miserables is the first film for Hooper since he won Best Picture and Best Director for The King's Speech.

And Oscar support for the movie does seem to be gathering pace with Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman also major favourites to bag nominations of their own.
