Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol has remained at the top of the UK box office, despite a great opening weekend for The Iron Lady.

Ghost Protocol, which is the fourth film in the franchise took a further £2.2 million this weekend to hold off the challenge from the biopic picture and Sherlock Holmes.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows moved up a place this week to number two as it took £2.1 million over the weekend.

The Iron Lady was the highest new entry inside the top ten this week at number three in what has been a great weekend for the movie.

Meryl Streep plays Margaret Thatcher in a story about her rise to power and the difficulties she faced once there.

Streep is red hot favourite to win the Best Actress Oscar for her performance and the movie took £2.15 million since it's release.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was down two places this week at number four while Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked fell one place to round off the top five.

Puss In Boots was out of the top five as it slid one place to six while Goon was the second and final new entry this week at seven.

The Artist was up five places from thirteen to eight as Oscar support for the movie grows.

New Year's Eve was this week's biggest faller as it dropped from six to nine while Hugo fell two to number ten.
