The Departed star Mark Wahlberg has replaced The Notebook actor Ryan Gosling in The Lovely Bones a day before shooting was scheduled to begin.Gosling is reported to have left the project, which is being directed by Peter Jackson, due to 'creative differences' and after piling on twenty pounds for the role of the grieving father.The Lovely Bones is an adaptation of the 2002 New York Bestseller by Alice Sebold that follows a murdered girl in the afterlife as she watches over her grieving family.Wahlberg joins Saoirse Ronan, Rachel Weisz, Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon.The Oscar nominated actor has recently wrapped on M. Night Shyamalan's The Happening, the follow up to The Lady In The Water.Wahlberg's next project The Fighter, for which he has already trained for twelve months, has been delayed due to director Darren Aronofsky's work on The Wrestler starring Nicholas Cage and will get under way at the end of summer next year.Helen Earnshaw
