Martin Scorsese

Martin Scorsese is hoping to sign up Al Pacino to play Frank Sinatra in his upcoming biopic - and the director wants Robert De Niro to co-star as Dean Martin.

The Raging Bull filmmaker is set to bring Ol' Blue Eyes' life story to the big screen in forthcoming film Sinatra - and a string of high-profile actors, including Leonardo DiCaprio, have been linked to the lead role.

Scorsese has now admitted his first choice for the part is Pacino and he would ideally like to reunite the actor with his The Godfather Part II co-star De Niro as Rat Pack singer Martin.

He tells Hindu.com, "I've had it in mind for a long time. Even the initial script is ready. I'm yet to spot the actor who can bring back Frank Sinatra alive on screen.

"My choice is Al Pacino, and Robert De Niro as Dean Martin."

Scorsese hasn't worked with De Niro since Casino back in 1995 and he has never worked with Pacino.
