Matt Damon has revealed that his kiss with Emily Blunt was awkward.

The pair star together in The Adjustment Bureau and Damon reveals that they had struck up a good friendship before they shared an onscreen smooch.

And the Oscar winner believes that it was that friendship that made that scene difficult to film.

Speaking to Today Show host Meredith Vieira: "By the time we shot that scene, it was really one of the last things we shot and we were really great friends and our spouses were really great friends and it was very, very, very, awkward.

"John Toll, the great cinematographer and also a friend of ours, he was shooting the film and he was equally uncomfortable.

"He was saying 'Guys it's only seven seconds, can you just give me seven seconds?'"

The adjustment Bureau is just one of the projects that Damon has in the pipeline this year having already completed work on Margaret, Contagion and Happy Feet 2.

He is currently filming We Bought a Zoo and has been linked to Liberace and Elysium.

The Adjustment Bureau is released 4th March.
