Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he finds romantic comedies more difficult to shoot than his more dramatic parts.

The actor is back on the big screen this week in legal drama the Lincoln Lawyer, an adaptation of the Michael Connelly novel.

And while McConaughey has the likes of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days under his belt he finds the rom-com roles difficult.

Speaking to MSN Movies the actor said: "In a funny way, there's more acting to do in the rom coms - the work is to keep them light."

" (Dramatic roles)You can hit as hard as you want. You can love as hard as you want. You can be in as much pain and hurt as much as it really hurts."

"[In rom coms] you can't hit that hard, because we all know we're getting together in the end. We can pretty much cash that cheque going in."

The Lincoln Lawyer is the first movie role for McConaughey since Ghosts of Girlfriends Past back in 2009 - and he admits that this was just what he was looking for.

"It was exactly what I was looking for at the time. It's not really a conscious decision. I'm just naturally turned on by this kind of story and this kind of character now."

And the actor has Killer Joe, Bernie and The Dry Gulch Kid all on the horizon.

The Lincoln Lawyer is out now.
