Melissa Rosenberg has hinted that she may tone down her adaptation of fourth Twilight Saga book Breaking Dawn.

The final chapter in the story has been given the green light to go ahead, it will be split into two movies, and will be helmed by Bill Condon.

The novel Breaking Dawn includes sex as well as a very bloody birth scene and Rosenberg admits that she want doesn't want those elements to take over the rest of the story.

Speaking to the Los Angeles Times she said: "On the fan site, on Facebook, all the comments are 'It has to be R rated! You have to show the childbirth! Gore and guts and sex!'.

"For me it's actually more interesting to not see it. You know, you can do childbirth without seeing childbirth... it doesn't mean it's any less evocative of an experience."

Rosenberg also revealed that she is keen to make Bella more of an impact in the final movie than she is in the book. "She doesn't have the physical strength of Edward and all of them.

"So how do you make the character strong when she's physically vulnerable? There really is a goal to give her stamina and other strengths. She really is a role model."

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is due for release next month and the movie is looking to match the box office success of New Moon which took over $700 million at the global box office.

The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is released 9th July
