Michael Bay has described stories that Mark Wahlberg could be starring in a fourth Transformers movie as 'just a rumour'.
The Oscar nominated actor was linked with the franchise yesterday with reports surfacing that he could be set to take over the lead role - vacated by Shia LaBeouf last summer.
However Bay played down the rumours on his own website by writing: "The Mark Wahlberg T4 rumour is just a rumour.
"Mark and I are talking about another film project."
It was believed that Transformers: Dark of the Moon would be the final movie in the franchise for Bay but a fourth film from him is in the pipeline.
Earlier this year British actor Jason Statham had been linked with the project but no casting news has been released.
As for Wahlberg he will be back on the big screen in the new year with Broken City, which sees him star alongside Russell Crowe.
He has also completed work on Pain & Gain and 2 Guns and is currently working on Love Survivor the new movie from Peter Berg.
