Model-turned-action star Milla Jovovich, Ashanti and Heroes actress Ali Larter have taken girl power to the top of the U.S. box office in the third Resident Evil movie.The trio's zombie-blasting video game-inspired action film, Resident Evil: Extinction, beat off all competition over the weekend with an estimated $24 million (£12 million) take.It marks a record for the Resident Evil franchise - Resident Evil: Apocalypse opened with $23 million (£11.5 million) in 2004.Pregnant Jovovich has starred in all three films.Jessica Alba comedy Good Luck Chuck debuted at number two with $14 million (£7 million) and last weekend's (16Sep07) number one, The Brave One, falls to three.
