Naomi Watts has admitted that her new Marilyn Monroe movie will not be a glossy depiction of the screen icon.

The Oscar nominated actress is yet to start work on the project but has called the movie a 'very meaty, intense project'

Speaking to Coming Soon the actress said: "It's based on the Joyce Carol Oates novel Blonde which is fictitious even though it's obviously about Marilyn Monroe.

"We'll see how things go. It's not the glossy, gorgeous Marilyn Monroe we’re portraying here in a biopic. It’s a very meaty, intense project."

The actress is currently working on another movie The Impossible, which sees her star alongside Ewan McGregor. It's been a busy year for Watts who has completed work on an untitled comedy and Dream House.

She will next be seen on the big screen in political thriller Fair Game, which sees her work alongside Sean Penn for the third time.

Watts takes on the role of Valerie Plame, whose CIA agent status is revealed in order to discredit her husband who questioned the reasons that the USA went to war Iraq.
