Natalie Portman has been installed as the bookies favourite to land the role of Lisbeth Salander in the Hollywood remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, based on the best-selling first book in Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy.
Paddy Power have made 29-year old Portman their 11/4 favourite ahead of Harry Potter star Emma Watson at 4/1 and French actress Lea Seydoux at 6/1.
Other names on the bookies short-list include Kristen Stewart and Katie Jarvis (both 8/1) along with Ellen Page and Sarah Snook (both 10/1).
The remake which is scheduled for a 2011 release has David Fincher at the helm and stars Daniel Craig as the lead character Mikael Blomkvist and Stellan Skarsgard as the elderly former industrialist Henrik Vanger.
Paddy Power said "Noomi Rapace set the bar exceedingly high with her portrayal of Salander in the original version so whoever gets the nod will have a very tough act to follow"
Portman has been a busy girl of late as Your Highness and Black Swan both await release. She has just completed filming on big budget blockbuster Thor and she also has an untitled Ivan Reitman movie in post production.
She is set to work on Pride and Prejudice and Zombies as well as being linked to Isabella V, Snow and the Seven and Clod Atlas.
