Nicolas Cage has revealed that he was excited to get behind the wheel and drive fast in his new movie.
The actor is back on the big screen this week with Drive Angry 3D, which sees him work with My Bloody Valentine 3D director Patrick Lussier.
And while he admits to being a cautious driver in real life he relished the chance to put his foot on the gas.
Speaking at the premiere of Drive Angry 3D the actor said: "I'm pretty comfortable with a car, I really enjoy driving so for me it was actually more fun than terrifying."
"I don't take unnecessary risks in my own life so any chance I get to drive fast in a movie I'm into it".
"Some of these cars got a little risky. We drove them quite a bit and they would lose their brakes.
"You'd be driving really fast and there'd be no brakes, which added a whole new level of adrenalin to the experience."
Cage has already completed work on The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, Trespass and The Croods and he is currently filming Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance - which sees him reprise the role of Johnny Blaze.
Drive Angry 3D is released 25th February.
