Nicolas Cage has admitted that he behaved like a mischievous kid on the set of his new movie The Sorcerer's apprentice.

The actor teams up with National Treasure filmmaker Jon Turteltaub and Jay Baruchel for a live action version of the Mickey Mouse scene in Fantasia.

In an interview with MTV the actor said: "I would say to Jay, 'Are we in trouble yet?'

"It has to be like that. You have to have a bit of mischievous kid in the back of the classroom to make it interesting.

"I have to make it amusing for me, which means there has to be some level of mischief and public disruption."

And the actor has also revealed that it was his idea to use a ring to hold of his power, which he suggested after the producer came up with another idea.

"I was in Hungary making another movie and I got a call from producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Jon Turteltaub and they said, 'We want you to maybe wear bracelets and hit these bracelets and that's when the magic happens,

"Interesting, but I said, 'No, it has to be a ring because I have to use my hands.' It's like conducting. I really wanted to be able to conduct the magic into happening. ... It's more beautiful to use your hands than just smashing your wrists together."

It's already been a busy year for Cage with Bad Lieutenant and Kick Ass under his belt but The Sorcerer's Apprentice is just one movie the actor has on the way this summer Season of the Witch is also due for release.

He has completed filming on The Hungry Rabbit Jumps, The Croods and Drive Angry with Trespass still in the pipeline.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice is released 13th August.
