Nicole Kidman admits that she like taking on projects that will divide people.

The actress will be back on the big screen with new movie The Paperboy, and movie that got a mixed response when it was screened at the Cannes Film Festival last week.

The movie is an adaptation of the Peter Dexter novel and follows a reporter who is investigating a case that involves a man on death row.

Speaking to Deadline the actress said: "It shocked people. Yes, it's very polarising but that's cool by me.

"That's the sort of stuff I do and I am used to that. People love it or hate it. But that's me as an actor.

"I like that high-wire stuff because I would rather do that than be bland."

The movie marks the return to the director's chair for Lee Daniels while Kidman stars alongside Zac Efron, Matthew McConaughey and John Cusack.

Kidman has also already completed work on Stoker and she is currently filming The Railway Man with Stellan Skarsgård and Colin Firth.
