Philip Seymour Hoffman is hoping to oversee a TV hit, the Oscar winner is developing a new series for U.S. network HBO.

The Capote star is helming Upstate, which will tell the story of Roy Perkins, who relocates his family to rural America to become a correctional prison officer after he is made redundant.

The actor will be executive producer on the show, which is made through his company, Cooper's Town Productions.

Hoffman is not slated to appear in the drama, which is set to hit the small screen in the U.S. later this year (11).
