Rachel Weisz is not in competition with Katie Holmes over their roles as Jackie Kennedy.
Both actresses are set to play the First Lady as Oscar winner Weisz is all set to star in a movie by Darren Aronofsky while Katie Holmes it taking on the same role in a TV series.
Speaking to People.com Weisz said: "She's a fantastic actress, she will be fabulous - it's not a competition."
"I'm surprised more people haven't played her thus far. It seems strange there hasn't been many versions, but it's great she has the opportunity to play her as well."
Weisz went on to admit that she can't wait to take on the role in the biopic picture: "It's extremely exciting and scary at the same time. She's American royalty, so there's some fear," she said.
"I haven't really got deep into it yet, but of course she's one of the 20th century's greatest and most fabulous fashion icons. I'm thrilled."
She is back on the big screen this summer with fellow Oscar winner Adrien Brody in The Brothers Bloom before going on to The Whistleblower.
