Rio

Rio has grabbed the top spot at the UK box office in it's opening weekend.

Directed by Carlos Saldanha the animation movie boasts a voice cast of Jesse Eisenberg, Anne Hathaway, Jamie Foxx and Leslie Mann.

When Blu, a domesticated macaw from small-town Minnesota, meets the fiercely independent Jewel, he takes off on an adventure to Rio de Janeiro with this bird of his dreams.

The movie took £1.5 million over the weekend, the only movie to break £1 million, to take the top spot.

Source Code, which sees Duncan James return to the director's chair, stayed put at two while there was also no move for Limitless at three.

Last week's number one Hop fell three places at four - and was this week's biggest faller -  while Sucker Punch was down one to round off the top five.

The Eagle was also down one while Bollywood movie Thank You was the second new entry on the chart this week at seven.
