Ron Perlman has revealed that Hellboy changed his career and he owes director Guillermo Del Toro.

I owe it all to Guillermo. He fought for a long time to win me that role

The actor was back on the big screen last week as he teamed up with Nicolas Cage for Season of the Witch.

And 2011 will be a busy year for the actor as he has already completed work on Frankie Goes Boom and Conan The Barbarian.

Speaking to Digital Spy the actor said: "Hellboy one not quite as much as Hellboy II - but by doing that second one and becoming a bonafide big studio franchise, there’s just been a huge difference to my life prior to that and my life after that.

"I owe it all to Guillermo. He fought for a long time to win me that role. You can never imagine the battle he had to put up. He invested a great deal of his own personal stock."

"I've been very busy since Hellboy II and I wasn't all that busy prior to. I was chugging along pretty good and not bad - respectable.

“But now it's just easier to stay busy than it's ever been before."

And the actor has plenty of movies in the pipeline including The Riot, which sees him team up with Michael Clarke Duncan, and At the Mountains of Madness which will reunite him with Guillermo Del Toro.
