Ryan Gosling has revealed that he has always wanted to make a comedy movie.

The actor steps into his first comedy role this week with new movie Crazy, Stupid, Love - which sees him join an all star cast of Steve Carell, Julianne Moore and Emma Stone.

Speaking to Metro the actor said: "Comedies have always been my favourite movies and I always wanted to make them but then I got into drama and never had the chance.

"But I also know that so much of comedy is about who you work with and your chemistry with the other actors."

And Gosling has not one but tow movies hitting the big screen this weekend as he is also set to star in Drive.

The movie sees him team up with filmmaker Nicolas Winding Refn and actress Carey Mulligan for a project that has already been a hit with the critics.

And the end of 2011 is set to be a busy one for the actor as he will also star in Ides of March, which is directed by George Clooney, later this year.

Crazy, Stupid, Love is out now.
