Shailene Woodley is rumoured to be the favourite of author EL James to play the role of Anastasia Steele.
James' smash hit novel Fifty Shades of Grey is set to be adapted for the big screen and a whole host of actresses have been linked to the central role.
But it is Woodley, who starred in The Descendants with George Clooney earlier this year that has caught the eye of the author.
A script for the movie is yet to be written and a director has not yet been named to helm the project.
A whole host of names have been banded around to take on this role including Emma Watson, Amanda Seyfried and Kristen Stewart.
Selena Gomez was also one of the early actresses that was talked about but she ruled herself out of the project.
There is a similar amount of interest surrounding the casting of Christian Grey - the likes of Ryan Gosling and Ian Somerhalder
Woodley on the other hand is currently filming The Spectacular Now with Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
