Shia LaBeouf has admitted that he is happy to leave the Transformers franchise on a high note and fells the success of Transformers: Dark of the Moon makes up for the disappointing second movie.

LaBeouf played Sam Witwicky for the final time this summer as he teamed up with director Michael Bay for a third instalment to the hit franchise.

And Dark of the Moon was their most successful film to date as it grossed in excess of $1billion - the third film to achieve that feat this year.

Speaking to MTV News the actor said: "For me, I feel vindicated for having guilt on my shoulders for the second movie.

"There is vindication in this one being successful and people enjoying it."

For his new project LeBeouf is set to join forces with Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman for The Wettest County in the World - which has already completed filming.

And it was a movie that LaBeoug loved being a part of "That's probably the biggest, coolest opportunity I've been allotted so far. It's the most colourful character I've been able to play, the most depth I've been able to show as an actor."
